Dr. Theodora Stolz on Meditation
Dr. Theodora Stolz is a psychologist who believes that people should find free and cheap ways to release negative energy before deciding to visit a therapist or other health professional. She says there are many ways people can practice therapy on themselves that will fit into their daily schedule as well as promote their personal health in ways that don’t require spending serious amounts of money.
One of these ways is meditation. Meditation is a way to embrace silence and to put all of your noisy surroundings on mute, allowing your body to regenerate from the many sources of stimulation that are force fed to it every day. Many people use meditation as a way to rest the mind, sometimes in the place of sleep. Many practitioners believe that a twenty-minute deep mediation yields the same mental and physical benefits of eight hours of sleep. That is because when you are asleep, the brain actually functions more than when awake, hence dreams.
And while getting an extra six or more hours of activity out of your day sounds appealing, attaining such a high level of meditative ability is not something that happens overnight. It can take years to develop good meditation habits, as our minds are so conditioned to always processing information it is hard to stop it on such command.
One popular form of healing that Dr. Theodora Stolz endorses is Reiki. A form of healing that is very spiritual in nature, Reiki focuses on the life-force energy inside all of us and uses hand techniques to manipulate and transfer that energy to the parts of the body that need it. She also endorses psychic help. Her closest friend, who is much her senior, is a psychic who has shown her the connection between psychology and the psychic world.
